Shades of Gray

I was eyeing drapes from the West Elm catalog, but my mother talked me into getting them custom made. We headed downtown to Home Fabrics and saw a window sample mixing solid and print. I chose the same design for my living room, and a softer print for my bedroom. The contrast is chic and somehow created the illusion of elongated windows.

No hablo

Sara Kety onesie from Bloomgindales.com
I've never been a fan of onesies. Ever since becoming a mom, I'm all about easy-to-wear kimono tops or snap-button rompers. But some of the cutest, funniest baby clothes only come in onesies. I'm tempted to buy "no hablo" for my sister's youngest daughter. Her other two children speak Spanish with their nanny, but her infant obviously todavia no habla.

Gingham and Aviators

Onekingslane.com
I've been stalking One Kings Lane like a crazy person. These towels are sold out, but I spoke to artist Stephen Moss, who designed them, and there will be more coming! The site usually features beach/pool towels every 2-3 weeks during the summer. I got a couple in aqua...waiting for other colors to make a complete set. Good luck snatching one when they're available again...may the odds be ever in your favor.

Playing Host

We celebrated my best friend's 30th birthday with a pool party and mozza2go. I thought paper plates would make it easier on me, so I chose summery Marimekko designs from Crate and Barrel. I also personalized the table setting by using childhood birthday photos of my friend and attaching them with ribbon to each napkin. It made a cute conversation starter and touched my friend to tears.

Thanks a bunch, hon

Mark's Garden floral arrangement

Told my husband I was lonely for him and he came home from work with this. A beautiful surprise. Unwarranted gifts usually make me uneasy, but my mother tells me to accept them with open arms...that they rarely come later in a marriage. We'll see. I have faith in my husband.
