Spooning

In all my life, I've always been the spoonee, not the spooner. But today, in an effort to get my baby to sleep, I laid on the floor and brought J in close to me. He fit in my nook and I finally felt what it was like to be on the other side...and it feels just as marvelous.

These prints by Petek Design are adorable. The one below now reflects our family of three.

And a chick chick here...

These boxwood giant chickens were part of a real, whimsical wedding featured on MarthaStewartWeddings.com. If I ever get a bigger back yard, I want a pair of chickens just like these guys next to my vegetable garden.

Where you left it

One of the best pieces of advice my father gave me was to put something back in its place after using it. Seems simple. It's coming in more handy now that all of Jackson's things are teeny tiny and sometimes I just need to put that little nail clipper down anywhere at the moment and then days later I'm looking under sofa cushions because I can't find it. Or I throw the small bottle of sunscreen in my huge bag and then it takes forever to find. Dad, I'm trying to take the extra time to put things back in their rightful place. It will save my sanity. Thank you.

I saw some cute hooks to help me...

Spring Birthday

Bunnies greeted guests for Jackson's Spring themed 1st birthday party

A Jackson tree at the entrance table

I told my husband that this paper rosette backdrop was the stupidest idea I'd ever had.  All it is is a bunch of fans, how hard could it be. But it just eats up your hours. So after I invested weeks making 10, I couldn't stop there. I had to finish at 46. The last week, my family kept telling me to give up. Instead, I made them form an assembly line around my kitchen island, folding, taping, folding, taping, cursing. Nobody better tell me it was pretty or else I might have another stupid idea. And guess what...everyone told me it was pretty.

These colorful vases are my mother's touch. A modern take on the traditional Korean Dohl table.

These are the first cake toppers I'd ever bought. They are from etsy shop Star House. The cake looked so bare without these little guys, they were definitely a detail worth including. The two chickies represent little J and N, cousins and BFFs, born 2 weeks apart.

And of course I was crazed setting up, so I didn't think to push the tree all the way down. It is a levitating, magical tree.

Their cute little behinds.

Centerpieces to take home for the person at the table with the birthday closest to J's. And each couple gets a cute little succulent bird as a memento.
